One of the first questions that anyone new to the world of ecommerce will ask is where to buy products to sell online.
It makes sense, right?
I mean, it’s hard to create, launch and grow a successful online store if you don’t have the kinds of products that will attract ideal customers.
After all, it's those same products that will keep them coming back to your store.
That’s why I’m so happy I had the chance to have a one-on-one conversation about where to source products to sell with the delightful Posey Duncan.
She’s a student in one of the workshops I offer that focuses on selling products via online marketplaces. (Listen to another workshop hotseat episode here or here.)
Posey was chosen at random from all the students in the class that day to participate in a hotseat—and what we discussed had other students writing things down furiously. It was so great!
Now here are just three of the things I personally wrote down during our conversation:
- Be okay with changing directions (as far as what products you’ll want to sell)
- Know where to find products, including the difference between wholesalers and manufacturers
- Keep your momentum going, and don’t give up!
By the way–something I really admire about Posey is her never-give-up attitude—and it’s a darn good thing she has it! Truly, she has one of the CRAZIEST stories I think I’ve ever heard when it comes to paperwork.
(You’ll hear all about it when you listen to this podcast episode…and I reeeaaaaaallllly think you’ll shake your head about it.)
But here’s the thing: while it’s really frustrating for Posey to have to deal with paperwork problems, it gives her the time to learn more about WHERE to buy products to sell online as well to decide WHAT products to buy. And that’s what we were able to chat about during our hotseat session. We also chatted about the similarities and differences between Aliexpress and Alibaba, two of the many product providers I’ve worked with multiple times over the years.
