Today, I'm going to share with you how you can get the most from your online ecommerce course but first, let’s pretend for a second.
Let’s pretend that you had a million-dollar racehorse. How do you think you’d treat it?
This is the question my coach, Alex Charfen, asked me one day.
He said that we, the entrepreneur, are the million-dollar racehorse yet many of us don’t treat ourselves like we would that racehorse who could make us a million bucks. In fact, we often end up treating ourselves horribly.
The racehorse would get the best training, ample time to rest, great food, and plenty of water.
The average entrepreneur often gets training through trial and error, little sleep, garbage fast food, and not enough fluids.
I know, you might be thinking that the million-dollar mark is so far away but… is it really? You have to start at the beginning, there is no getting around this, no matter who you are. Some people just take a different route to how they get there. That racehorse wasn’t born ready to cross the finish line in the first place. It had to train, prepare, and get treated like… well… a million-dollar racehorse.
How do you treat yourself? And no, I’m not here to teach you about nutrition because we all know I love myself some Chick-Fil-A and Diet Coke. I’m here to help you realize what’s needed in regards to getting the most out of your online ecommerce course so you can become your own million-dollar racehorse.
The Realization I Could Go Faster With An Online Ecommerce Course
As a new mom, I used to feel so guilty spending money on me. I’m sure you know the feeling where even buying yourself a new shirt to replace the one with holes in it makes you feel guilty. I just wanted to make sure my kids had everything they needed.
As they grew, so did the expenses. Clothes, soccer, piano lessons, etc, etc. The feeling of guilt when I spent money never seemed to go away.
So, naturally, when I needed to learn about what it took to start an online ecommerce business, I went to YouTube University. I thought I could save money by searching YouTube for everything I needed to know. And I actually did learn a lot on my own.
However, it wasn’t until I joined my very first mastermind that my eyes were opened to how much faster I could be going with a focused online ecommerce course. I was moving at a snail’s pace with my current self-education and trial-and-error approach. And little did I know, there was a jet sitting there the whole time that would get me exactly where I wanted to go… so much faster.
Investing In Yourself For Speed
Before joining that mastermind and taking an online ecommerce course, I just didn’t think I could afford to invest in myself. But once my eyes were open, I knew this was the path. Hindsight being 20/20, if I could go back in time I would have invested in a coach so much earlier.
I was paying for a coach for my kid’s soccer and piano, but I was blind to my own need for a business coach. I can’t fathom how many mistakes and issues could have been avoided if I would’ve had a coach to lean on during those early days.
It’s so clear to me now that you are your greatest investment.
On your way to your goals, you have the choice to treat yourself like that million-dollar racehorse or not. From personal experience, I can tell you that the latter will lead to more late nights, tears, and frustration than anyone should endure.
How To Get There Faster With An Online eCommerce Course
“The beautiful thing about learning is that nobody can take it away from you.” – B.B. King
I want to pull back the curtain and show you how to be successful when you sign up for your first online ecommerce course, mastermind, or whatever it is. I’m going to dive into some of the top tips, tricks, and tactics that I’ve seen from my own students in the $0-100k community and friends in the online entrepreneur space.
#1: Do Your Research For The Online eCommerce Course
It’s up to you to do your due diligence and make sure that coach or educator is actually legit. You want to make sure they aren’t some one-hit-wonder and that they have real results with students over a period of time.
Keep in mind when you are doing research that one negative doesn’t mean that person isn’t the real deal. Even Mr. Rogers had haters so take it with a grain of salt.
Look for things like is that person showing up in their community and providing value, does it seem like they care, and do you get a good vibe from them? These are all things you need to look for and ask yourself before investing.
#2: Use Trials For An Online eCommerce Course
There are a ton of online ecommerce course creators who are offering trials now. You should take advantage of this to see if you like how they deliver content. Remember, this isn’t like college. You aren’t stuck with your professor once you sign up if you use the trial. If you don’t like them, just switch.
#3: Watch For Emails From The Creator
When you sign up for an online ecommerce course, make sure you are actually getting the emails and they aren’t just going to SPAM. If you aren’t getting the emails, then you could be missing out on vital information for your success in the program.
#4: Join The Community
If they have a community, JOIN IT! These are people that are on the same journey as you and many of them are steps ahead of you. Be active in the community and pos when you have questions or roadblocks.
#5: Commit To Posting In The Community
These people are on the journey with you. They are taking the same online ecommerce course as you. Not only will you get questions answered fast by the educator and other community members, but you’ll also be able to create a sense of accountability.
#6: Answer Other People’s Questions
You might not consider yourself an expert yet, but guess what… you’re a few steps ahead of some other people and you can provide them value. Maybe they hit a roadblock that you just got around last week. Your reply could save them hours of pulling their hair out.
That doesn’t mean you are a know-it-all; it just means you are helping.
#7: Find a Friend In The Community
When you are getting started, there is something so powerful about having another person that you can lean on and become accountability partners with. If you are in a thriving community, it will be really easy to find another person or persons to team up with.
#8: Block Off Your Power Hours For Your Online Ecommerce Course
When you set an appointment to get your hair done, do you move it? Of course not. I want you to treat your power hours like your hair appointment and have them set in stone. Your power hours are for you to learn and execute. For every hour that you spend learning from an online ecommerce course, I want you to spend 2 hours implementing what you learned.
#9: Reward Yourself
Come on. We are humans, we love rewards. I don’t care if it’s your favorite cookie or to take an hour break sitting in your closet in peace, reward yourself. When you set a goal, also set a reward for when you accomplish that goal. You deserve it.
#10: Set Realistic Expectations
“It took me 10 years to become an overnight millionaire.”
You’ve probably heard that quote before. In the beginning, don’t set your goal to be a million dollars in revenue in the first month. Set incremental goals. In the beginning, my goal was to sell $1. Seriously.
Then it was to sell $200 per day. Then $1,000 per day.
Start small.
#11: Implement
You could watch all the online ecommerce courses in the world, but if you never implement what you learned, you are no further ahead. You’ll never be that million-dollar horse by just learning. Get out there and start practicing what you’re learning. Take action for the love of loveliness.
