Whoa whoa whoa, 2020 has been quite the year, and it’s only July.

As I’m sure you have, I’ve made several pivots in my business this year. One of those was around my live event, which you’ve heard me mention on past episodes, was canceled due to the pandemic.  We decided that the plans we had were too good to just put it off completely, so we pivoted it to a virtual event, which is going live on August 3rd. As I was reviewing content from the 2019 live event, I came across the presentation from Julie Stoian. And boy am I glad I did.

I’ll admit, I really didn’t grasp how great of a presentation it was in the moment. Maybe because I was moving around at 100 mph while the event was going on. Whatever the reason, when I found it and watched it while sitting at my desk in silence, I was taken aback by how powerful her words were. That girl has a way with words, and that’s what I want to share with you today.

How to Create the Life You Want with Julie Stoian

Julie Stoian was brave enough and gracious enough to share some really intimate experiences that happened in her life that led her to be the million-dollar business owner that she is today. It wasn’t a fun path, but it taught her a ton of great lessons. And below I’m going to highlight the 8 lessons I learned from this presentation by Julie Stoian.

The Things You Need to be Successful Don't Have Anything to Do with Technology

You might think it’s the techy things that will make or break your online business, but chances are, that’s false. Learning those things is usually the easiest to learn or outsource. What makes people successful is the strategy and the relationships (more on this one below).

Julie Stoian described that when she learned how to get people to buy from her online her life was forever changed and she knew she’d never be under pressure for money again. Diving into DotCom Secrets by Russell Brunson really opened her eyes to what really got people to take action online, and she invested all of her time learning those skills, even as her world seemed to be falling down around her.

Learn How to Write Like Julie Stoian

Julie was using blogging as an escape from the depression she was facing. She didn’t know it at the time, but this skill set, when combined with the marketing knowledge she was learning, would be the catalyst for her million-dollar business. Words are far more powerful than design. 

Write About the Hook and the Story to Get Your Business to Blow Up

Those words that you write can turn passive website visitors into paying customers if you formulate them right. Julie Stoian says that when you write for your website, you need to think about the “hook” and the “story” of that message. Julie Stoian Shows Us That Sales Funnels Get Your Audience to Go in Chronological Order

You’ve heard me talk about Clickfunnels, which is a platform that helps you build sales funnels. Julie Stoian explained sales funnels really well. She said they are simply a series of chronological steps that your customer takes in the buying process. But not every purchase needs to happen through a sales funnel. They work great for cold traffic (people that don’t know/like/trust you) but someone who is already warm can likely just go right to your Shopify store and make a purchase.

Traffic is People; Find the People You Can Serve the Best

Whether it’s through ads, influencers, or organic social media, you’ve got to find a way to generate traffic for your business, or it won’t survive. Learning this skill set will ensure that any time you release a new product or service, you’ll have people waiting to buy it.

Build Strategic Relationships Like Julie Stoian

Julie shared how she entered the competition Russell Brunson held for his Expert Secrets book release. After the first week she was on the top 10 leader board but how could she possibly stay on there?! She was competing against the likes of Tony Robbins and Grant Cardone. That’s when she decided to go outside of her immediate audience and look for strategic relationships to help promote. And guess what – it worked!!! Julie Stoian came in at #4!

Moral of the story: if you want to get further faster, you need to leverage strategic relationships.

You are Allowed to Make Mistakes

Julie Stoian shared that after building some great relationships in the space (see above) she realized something profound. One of the biggest things that separated really successful business people and average businesspeople was their willingness to make mistakes, fail, and get back up. Learn this, and you’ll be unstoppable.
