Finding the perfect product can be difficult.
Trish Gower, this week’s podcast guest, didn’t exactly find the perfect product, although…she kind of did, and she is the epitome of a success story!
Last August, Trish went through my “Find Your Perfect Product” program.
She ended up selling a very unique product she had in her house for $1200. That one sale gave her the courage to actually launch her own business, and today, she is selling 600 products A DAY!!
Like I said, a true success story!
How did Trish do it? Join us for today's podcast to find out.
The First Product
Last August 2020, Trish Gower joined my free, 5-day Sprint to Find Your Perfect Product and LOVED it. But she didn’t know what she wanted to sell. (Wasn’t that all of us at one point? MY hand is raised!) So she bought a bunch of jewelry and thought, “I’ll sell this!”
During the course, she found 350 pounds of wax–yes wax–in her closet that was leftover from her daughter’s school project. (That’s one HECK if a lot of wax to be collecting dust if you ask me!) Trish broke up the wax into smaller 1-pound packages, added a PDF with some simple candle recipes and fun scent combinations, and started selling it!
In a week and a half, her super stash of wax packages was SOLD OUT. Yes ladies and gents, SOLD OUT. Aaaaand she had in the place of that product $1,200 in her pocket (and a cleaner closet!)
The Product Pivot
Soon, Trish realized that she didn’t just want to sell jewelry or candle wax. Would you say that was “wasted time”? NO SIR! Through the sale of those items, she learned how to sell, ship, photograph, provide good customer service, storytell, and so much more! All super valuable aspects of business that set her up for success with a product she really loved.
Trish wanted to do something with her artistic talent. She loved the idea of journals, so she subscribed to Canva for $12 a month, designed her own journals, printed them, and created a subscription box around that one product.
Pretty soon she wasn’t just selling a handful of products a day, she was selling 600 pieces A DAY!! YEEEEHAAA!! For a hot second, she didn’t even know if she would make it!
The Importance of Staying Positive
I like to share stories like Trish’s. She is like you and me. Trish faces opposition and has doubted herself. In fact, during this time her husband was laid off from his job and her grand daughter had a baby in the NICU. She works a full-time job and helps care for her grandbaby.
She has also had to get through some massive “brain trash” and recognize how negative thoughts are never helpful. But what I love about this story is that even when she struggled, even when she felt like she wasn’t enough, even when others told her she wasn’t enough, Trish DID NOT let those thoughts bring her down.
But don’t take my word for it, let Trish tell you in her own words, in today's episode, you’re gonna love her story!
