What if I told you that the things you need to make money in 2023—or any year, for that matter—weren’t things like knowledge or skill or “subject matter expertise.” It’s also not a specialized degree or an internship at a tech company.
Now, it’s not that those things don’t help you—a lot of them can. For example, I firmly believe that education is never wasted. Heck, let’s not forget that I’m a math and science teacher who’s head-over-heels in love with teaching online sales!
The reality is that three of the most important things you need to succeed in your online business (and pretty much everything else) are internal.

Well, the big news is that this episode of the How to Sell Online podcast is all about the three traits you need to succeed.
Here are a few things to know:
#1. Some of the biggest names you can think of possess them. Like…
…Matthew McConaughey (Hollywood megastar)
…Angie Bastian (she created BOOMCHICKAPOP)
…James Dyson (yep—the vacuum guy)
…Abraham Lincoln (I think we all know him)
…and a whole lot of others.
So if you’ve got ‘em, you’re in pretty dang good company.
And here’s the thing—all of us possess the basis for them, so I promise you that your DNA isn’t going to hold you back.
Which leads me to point two:
#2: It’s likely that you’ll need to work on them in order to get the most out of these traits. It would be so cool if I could just wave my hand and, like Oprah, yell “you’ll make money in 2023!” and “you’re making money in 2023!”
Sadly, I can’t give everyone a car (which is still one of the coolest daytime TV moments ever!) and I can’t magically give you everything you need to rock your business.
You, however, can give yourself the ability to rock your business. It might not be easy. But then, the best things usually don’t come easy.
And the last one:
#3. These traits? They’re not a one-time thing. Once you learn ‘em, lean into ‘em, and let ‘em loose, you’ll have the ability to create success in your online business this year, and next year, and the year after that.
